The N1 Deck Jacket originated during World War II to meet the needs of Navy crews stationed in Europe who required a warm jacket for temporary movement on the decks and passageways of their ships. To meet this demand, the U.S. Department of Defense ordered the creation of a jacket closely resembling the one already in use by U.S. Army troops, except for its distinctive blue color. The N1 Deck Jacket features a canvas collar, a wool cloth lining, and a zipper closure for optimal protection against the cold.
