There USN M-43 DECK JACKET: known as Deck Hook Jacket.
Designed in 1943 and put into service in 1944, the Deck Hook jacket was the direct ancestor of the famous N-1 model, replacing the previous version known as the "Deck Zip." The main change concerned the closure system: the zipper was abandoned in favor of metal hooks, an innovative solution that offered better resistance to corrosion caused by salt water, while also making it easier to use, even with gloves. This improvement quickly made the jacket an iconic piece of US Navy equipment during World War II.
Before and during World War II, the United States Navy experimented with several types of jackets adapted to the extreme weather conditions at sea. Early versions with zippers were very popular with sailors, but their limitations quickly became apparent: the metal zippers tended to jam in freezing weather and rusted rapidly in the sea air. To overcome these drawbacks, military designers drew inspiration from firefighters' coats, which used a system of sturdy hooks that were easy to operate, even with bulky equipment.
Several variations of the M-43 model existed, depending on the manufacturing contracts. The interpretation offered here by REDSTONE AND CO and PIKE BROTHERS features bellows pockets with "D" shapes and a single hook closure at the hem. Some other versions incorporated a double closure at the hem. The jacket combined a jungle cloth outer fabric, a wool lining, and a rayon mid-layer, providing excellent thermal insulation.
In 1945, the M-43 jacket was replaced by the N-1 model, marking the end of a short but intense production cycle. Today, due to its rarity and historical significance, the M-43 has become one of the most sought-after military garments on the vintage market.

Brand of the supplier PIKE BROTHERS.

Today, Pike Brothers passionately perpetuates the legacy of vintage style, remaining true to the authenticity and rigor that have forged its identity.
The brand has now established itself as a true "heritage" benchmark, embodying timeless craftsmanship and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Each piece is designed with meticulous attention to detail that reflects the history and spirit of those who wear them.
Pike Brothers' collections draw inspiration from the past, blending tradition, values, and history. They combine durability, elegance, and comfort – three essential pillars of the brand's clothing universe.
In Germany, the culture of hot rods, classic motorcycles, and vintage engines is deeply rooted. Yet, enthusiasts often invest more in their machines than in clothing capable of keeping up with their adventures.
This observation led Fabian Jedlitschka and Anna Schäfer to create a line of robust clothing faithful to the spirit of period workwear. Thus, Pike Brothers was born, a brand designed to last and to accompany enthusiasts of mechanics and history.
But the story doesn't end there. In 2010, Fabian made a surprising discovery: while browsing through archives, he stumbled upon a perfectly preserved American military uniform, adorned with the original "Pike Brothers" label. A wink from the past, reviving the heritage of a brand that time has never truly erased.

Introducing the DECK HOOK JACKET
The Deck Hook jacket appeared in the U.S. Navy between 1943 and 1944, succeeding the Deck Zip model. At that time, the Navy chose to test a new metal hook closure system. The previous version, equipped only with a zipper, presented numerous problems: the zipper tended to jam in the biting cold on the ship's deck, and it became virtually impossible to operate while wearing gloves. In contrast, the hook closure did not freeze and remained easy to use, even when wearing thick clothing.
